POLL: General RPG (2015)

Postby ColinBuckler » Sat Aug 15, 2015 8:15 pm

To try and help GM's plan future games, please can you indicate what typeof RPG genre you like to play in.

You may select 2 choices from the list. You can change your vote at a later point in time.

There will be further polls in the future within each voted Genre and we may look to introduce this as an annual event.

Picking two is always hard, I like the interaction of the players with each other and the GM, so games that give you free reign to use your brain, imagination and not just your dice get my vote. so please can I tick all of them?

We did once a long time ago, asked all the members what games they liked to run and play, and we had a really eclectic line up. Some members only wanted to play games they knew, but have since changed and will play more diverse games, others that swore they would never GM have run games which we have all enjoyed.

My point is give everything a go, you may only be a sci fi fan for example, but a little bit of horror or modern could peek your interest and start you on a whole new path of geeky fun.

see you all Sunday.

I agree it is hard to pick 2 - thats the point though      Picking two means you choose the two that you realy like.

I also agree that you should try all genre/games systems because there maybe that hidden gem you may come to love.

Running the polls every so often (yearly?) will hopefully give us an idea of where the interest lies.

I am also tempted to post sub polls for some of the options over the next few month probably starting with Fantasy as thats the most popular - what do people think about this?

No body voted for humour mate because that is suppose to be part of all our games even in the horror. This after all is our "fun" hobby.

I am sure Monty Python, Black Adder, the A Team, and Many more will still be included in the games sessions.

No votes for 'modern'? None at all?

Hmm... that's an interesting result. And a bit of a surprise, tbh. Well, the punters have spoken, so I guess I won't be running Spycraft or Top Secret again anytime soon.

Still, more time to concentrate on Legends of Corwyn.

Playing: Telford: Dark Heresy.
Running: Cannock: Legends of Corwyn/D&D, Telford: Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn/D&D.
Prepping: Chill (modern day horror) Tales From The Loop (1980s sci-fi/horror)

Lewis I am sure if the poll was rerun with games names, instead of game types, there maybe a bit of a swing.

Colin can you do the honours?

(I am always up for a game of spy craft, I am sure the rest of the Mock A team would agree, if only to get our own back on MR T CAGE)

Thats the plan - I did not want to flood the forums with polls and thought I'd do a General Poll first and see how the votes turn out. No surprise there that Fantasy is at the top.

I am surprisd that Modern has not got any votes yet, no so much with the Historic, Horror and Humor getting low votes.

Open to suggestions for inclusion in to the smaller lists - I may even batch them up:

Fantasy
13th Age
Catsles & Crusades
D&D 3.5
D&D 5
Earthdawn
Elfquest
Iron Kingdoms
Pathfinder
Warhammer Fantasy Battle

Historic
Pendragon

Horror
All Flesh Must Be Eaten
Deadlands
Cthulhu
Vampire The Masquerade
World of Darkness

Humor
Munchkin
Paranoia
Toon

Modern
d20 Modern
Spycraft

Science Fiction
Aftermath
Black Crusade
Dr Who
Firefly
Fringeworthy
Star Gate
Star Trek
Star Wars
The Morrow Project
Traveller

Superhero
Hero System

Universal
Basic Roleplaying
Cypher / Numenera
Fate
Savage Worlds

Err.. what about CHILL in the 'Horror' category? I know it's been a few months, but we actually play tested the new version at the club, just before Christmas. Plus, I ran two mini-campaigns of Legends of Kernow using the 2nd ed rules. OK, so that sort of broke the genre wall between horror and historic, but it should still be in there.

I should be getting the new rules box set in the next few weeks. The Kickstarter project was a success and our play testing helped. The box sets etc are just about to be posted from the States, and I hope to run something with them eventually.

So, please add CHILL!

Also, where's Top Secret/SI under Modern? And why isn't Tunnels & Trolls under either Fantasy or Humour?

Playing: Telford: Dark Heresy.
Running: Cannock: Legends of Corwyn/D&D, Telford: Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn/D&D.
Prepping: Chill (modern day horror) Tales From The Loop (1980s sci-fi/horror)

Thanks Colin! The specific games I mentioned are ones that I have run before at the club and am considering running again in the future.

Playing: Telford: Dark Heresy.
Running: Cannock: Legends of Corwyn/D&D, Telford: Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn/D&D.
Prepping: Chill (modern day horror) Tales From The Loop (1980s sci-fi/horror)
